My top 5 tips to handle culture shock: Take it easy and try to enjoy the pura vida mentality. People here are often very relaxed and friendly, but get used to things not happening super quickly. Be prepared for language challenges, if you don’t know a lot of Spanish. Many speak English in tourist areas, but knowing some is a big help to feel more at home. Be open to try local foods and participating in local events. It makes memories you can’t have elsewhere. It is very common to feel overwhelmed and confused in the beginning. There are a lot of students in the same boat, you will figure out things together! Keep in contact with friends and family at home for support. It can help to see a friendly face when you feel homesick.

Buenos Aires’ culinary scene is amazing and has something for every single palate! Here are some recommendations to explore while here: - WAT Coffee (Cafe) - Rita speciality coffee (Cafe) - Yatai Yatoi (Restaurant) - Bimbi Nilo (Vinyl bar) - Carmen (Restaurant)

Kulturstudier arranges many excursions for the students during the semester. Our first excursion was to Uvita, a 1-2 hour bus ride from San Isidro. A beautiful beach day after class and dinner with the teachers and staff🫶🏻 We are spoiled🥺

Markets and thrifting are fun weekend activities and luckily for our Kulturstudier students, Buenos Aires are packed with them. Parque Los Andes is a feria americana where you might find a new favourite pair of jeans or a cool going out top!

If you like thrift stores, San Isidro is the perfect town for you🫵🏼

Our first week in Costa Rica and a warm welcome from staff and teachers! 🫶🏻
